and HERE is a POST about the Christmas party Jasper and I threw!

WE HAD ONE.
ft. a roommate, JASPER; a hostess, QUARK; a puppy, HAMLET.
also ft. JASPER'S PARENTS; JASPER'S FIANCE; QUARK'S PARENTS; QUARK'S BROTHER & his FIANCEE

THE DECORATIONS WERE FESTIVE

THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS

and sorry, I apparently did not take a single picture of anything we actually served, but the menu from start to finish was:

menu )
the apartment was PACKED
(seriously it was, we fed nine (9) people and a puppy in our two-person apartment)

THE PUPPY WAS ADORABLE and bitey

And as all good Christmas parties should end, we finished with a wreck of an apartment and guests so stuffed that they had to waddle out to their cars.

AND if anybody's interested, I do have pictures from when we took Hamlet to the Christmas tree farm and stuck him in those photo op face-cut-out things for kids. If, you know, the internet wants puppy photos of all things.

Merry Christmas!

7th-Sep-2011 10:08 pm - one day i will sleep forever
quark: hang on, jasper just came home
quark: i'm going to go say hi and retreat again
dustin: aka crawling out of your cave to hiss at the intruder then climb back into your recess
quark: halsjkhfahhahahahah

It's justified, though, I promise! I had a major CEVS lab practical Tuesday morning and I got about four hours of sleep the two days before it, and I still haven't quite recovered from that yet. I'd be asleep now if I wasn't waiting for JADE TO HURRY UP AND GET HOME, who grocery shops at 9:30 at night. Plus, I have this bad habit of plotting for my current WIPs as I fall asleep, and this latest DA2 fic I'm working on is giving me weird dreams. Not bad dreams, per se, just those really peculiar ones that leave you bewildered in the morning, faintly troubled by images of Fenris in a massive ballgown and a vague sense of haunting regret.

Also, check this out:

man that is a sweet ass-bike

I bought a bike! My old one was stolen a little over a year ago; I'd had it since I was about fifteen, though, so I wasn't overly heartbroken. I've been trying to exercise lately first thing as soon as I get home from school, even if it's only for twenty minutes at a time, and I prefer biking to most other forms of exercise; hence...bike.

Admittedly, it's been a while since I biked, but one thing has not changed in the slightest: I still look like a dadgum idiot in a helmet. WHY IS MY HEAD THE SIZE OF OLYMPUS MONS, WHY. oh the sacrifices we make to not die of coronary artery disease at 30

Auburn is going to be lucky to go 6-6 this year, holy cripes

And now, a picture of a stone rutabega with a face carved in it.

No, I don't know why, but sure as shootin there's a whole line of them.

JADE IS HERE OMG

here is what she is doing right now

THINGS THAT SEEM GOOD SO FAR: adoration of carver and merrill seems equal to my own
THINGS THAT SEEM UNFORTUNATE SO FAR: immediate fenris lust does not seem to have yet appeared. woe, tragedy

p.s. jade ate all of those chips and those chocolate things, i didn't have any of them no sirree, and we certainly didn't go through that entire bag in less than an hour while recruiting anders and fenris and merrill, no sirree

/cough.

ANYWAY thank you all for the anime recs from my last post! I ended up suggesting Sailor Moon and some Miyazaki (specifically Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle, and tentatively Totoro). I think the girl's mother will be okay with those, but I guess we'll see after she's watched them, ha.

DANARIUS'S MANOR NEARLY PURGED! achievement unlocked: nine hour da2 marathon! oh, addictions, why can't we quit you. (And while I'm thinking of it, I do apologize for the incoherence of this post. I am extremely hungry and it was a long day at school. Also, I'm watching her play through all these these quests relatively unspoiled and it is just FASCINATING. Plus, you know. Fenris.)

man i have so many things to tell you guys, but i just can't seem to find the stupid spare time to sit down and make a proper post. ONE DAY. ONE DAY.

Dinnertime! :D

21st-Mar-2011 11:33 pm - on Dragon Age 2, because JADE MADE ME
A loose collective (a Mages' Collective, as it were) of thoughts about DA2, DA:O, and my gaming philosophy. In no particular order other than how it occurred to me during class. I have played just through the start of Act 2, so there will be some minor spoilers below, but nothing big and nothing endgame.

The best part about this lobster picture is that he actually has the strength in his fingers to use the plier-thingies to crack that sucker open. Three weeks ago, he could barely even squeeze my hand, and now he's chillin' with lobster and crab without even a problem.

(Bonus extrapolation from this image: my mom has not had to cook a single dinner in like a week and won't have to for a couple more weeks, I think. My church has come through in such an amazing way; they've come up with a detailed meal schedule [and some of the women in my church are amazing cooks, by the way] and gift cards and coupons, and basically they are just really being a blessing for our whole family.)

Also this morning, my went back to work for the first time since the beginning of February. My mom's been a weepy mess lately, but at least now it's the good kind of weepy.

Mi pater...es bueno.

AND NOW on a completely different subject:

My computer plays Dragon Age! (GASP OMG HOORAY timesink what) I made a terrible decision when I bought my laptop in getting an integrated video card--I didn't expect at the time to be playing any games anytime soon! I'M SORRY--so I didn't even bother trying to install it on there when I first got the game, because I figured there was no way it would possibly run.

But then while I was home, I was trying to budget out any possible way of getting this HP desktop I'm looking at so I can play Assassin's Creed and Dragon Age 2 (of course), but the money wasn't stretching and my parents didn't really approve of me buying it right now since they're letting me use their credit card to pay for my optometric equipment purchase WHICH IS ANOTHER THING I HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT BUT NOT NOW but ANYWAY, the long and short of it was that my mother was sick of my whining and said, "you never know until you try, so try it," so I tried it and IT RUNS.

I mean, it doesn't run well--I get about 7 fps on "medium" graphics quality, so I have to drop it down to "low" for any graphics-intense areas or significant combat, but the point is IT PLAYS and now I have plenty of time to set up my perfect playthroughs to import into DA2. (TO DO: Queen Cousland, city elf/Leliana/recruit Loghain, and ...a dwarf? probably a dwarf.)

Also, a question for people with Awakening: is it really worth buying? I'm interested in meeting Anders and Nathaniel, mostly, but I'm a little hesitant to spend the money for the DLC unless people absolutely love it and it's worth buying. YOUR THOUGHTS, I WANT THEM.

SO. How are things with y'all? :D
